Awards

The Holdfast Chronicles, my futuristic, feminist epic in four volumes published over a period of twenty five years and completed with The Conqueror's Child (1999, Tor), was honored at Torcon (the World Science Fiction Convention, 2003, Toronto) at the end of August. In recognition of these particular books, I was inducted into the Gaylactic Spectrum Hall of Fame (and I have a handsome certificate to prove it!), along with Ursula K. LeGuin (for The Left Hand of Darkness), Melissa Scott (for The Shadow Man), and Diane Duane (for The Tale of the Five (book series).

What excellent company! I couldn't wish for better.

The Gaylactic Network, the premiere organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) fans of science fiction, fantasy, and horror (SF/F/H), established the Spectrum Awards to honor works in SF/F/H that deal positively with gay characters, themes and issues.
